I have just created the best sandwich bread recipe that makes a super soft and fluffy loaf perfect for sandwiches, toast or whatever you like to eat. This homemade bread recipe makes a soft sandwich that has just FIVE ingredients (and unlike any other!) and is completely free from preservatives. Ingredients:
- 3 cups all-purpose flour (plus extra for kneading)
- 1 packet (7g) active dry yeast
- 1 cup warm water
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 2 tablespoons unsalted butter (softened)
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup milk (lukewarm)
Method :
1. Activate the yeast :
- For yeast mixture: In a bowl, combine warm water with sugar and add the yeast. Allow it to sit for 5-10 minutes, or until frothy indicating that the yeast is live.
2. Make the dough :
- In a large bowl, mix the flour and salt together When it has wet all over by the liquid, pour in the yeast mixture and softened butter amd lukewarm milk. Mix until a soft dough forms. Turn out onto a lightly floured surface, either hand knead for 8-10 minutes until it is smooth and elastic.
3. First rise :
- Seal the top of the container with plastic wrap, and leave it to rise in a warm place for 1-1.5 hours ( or until doubled ).
4. Shape the dough :
- After the dough has significantly puffed up, punch it down and form a long loaf. Grease a 9×5″ loaf tin and place dough into, recover again. Allow to rise again for 30-45 minutes until near the top of pan.
5. Bake the bread :
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175° C). Bake the bread for 25-30 minutes or until golden on top and hollow-sounding when tapped.
6. Cool and serve :
- Transfer the bread from it’s grest to a rack, and allow it to cool completely before slicing.
Presentation Tips :
- Serve this soft sandwich bread fresh with butter or use it to make your favorite sandwiches.
- Wrap the bread in a clean kitchen towel to keep it soft after cooling.
